After taking Helen Charles Workshop last month (Click here to see that post), I decided it was time to try my hand at making one without her supervision!
I was so impressed with the large bowl that a complete pottery virgin made that I decided to see if I could make one too.

Here is the photographic record of my efforts.
Now what to do with this large bowl? Popcorn, ice cream…planter…or object de art?
Pot big or go home!
Marian
Awesome bowl!!!! Congrats!
Thanks! Can’t wait to glaze it!
You really did a nice bowl! You said you used extruded coils?
Thanks! I extruded strips that were about half inch wide!
Ice cream bowl, totally an ice cream bowl.
Yeah- that’s kinda what I was thinking……hehehe!
Wow Marian! That’s so impressive! Can I ask how many pounds of clay? Looking forward to the finished piece, I can see it sitting on a table with nothing at all in it and looking magnificent! (Though I did love the ice cream idea!) Congrats!
That was pretty much one whole bag of clay- minus a few bits and pieces! Thanks! Hope it fires up nice!
looking good! yep, extruded coils work a treat ;^)
Yep, the extruded coils saved my back!
